The Cemetery Goose

I'm not sure why my car thought I should stop at the cemetery today as it isn't one of my favorite places to visit. Maybe it was to see that my parents had no flowers in their vases or maybe just to be reminded that life is short so I need to take time to appreciate things that surround me. I'm not really sure what it was and I felt very sad as I walked back to my car. As I started to drive away, I noticed several geese walking among the grave sites. They didn't care who's grave they were walking on--they were just looking for food. I stopped the car and got out to watch them. One in particular caught my eye--it became my photo for today.

The Hubby and I had a mini-date: The bank and Dairy Queen.
I know, pretty wild, huh! We are quite the fun couple when we let loose like this.
We even brought home a box of Dilly Bars for the kids and grandkids.
My grandfather (we called him Bopie) used to treat my sisters and me to Dilly Bars when
I was just a little kid. I loved to bite the little curl off before I ate the rest of the bar.
Dairy Queen has been around since 1938--I'm not even that old, really!

The recent commercial showing a family sitting down to dinner and the mom serving baked potatoes, each with their own stick of butter, it reminded me of the sugar sandwich I liked to eat when I was a kid.

I would spread that butter nice and thick across a slice of old fashioned white bread and then sprinkle
it with white sugar. Yum! When I made the demo for the above photo, my son-in-law said he ate them when he was a kid, too. He didn't want me wasting perfectly good bread, butter and sugar, so.....

Monkey Boy 1 has suddenly become a willing model for me when I'm in the mood to take
pictures of him. Monkey Boy 2 on the other hand jumps or leaps every time I try to capture
him on camera. This was the best picture out of seven that I took today and I love it, though
you can see Monkey Boy 2 is not in the picture! This photo captures what I love about this
boy--his beautiful brown eyes, his happy face, and his playful nature.
